Girls and Technology. Now THAT computes!

TST BOCES will be offering two camps this summer for girls entering Middle School grades 6-8.

First Camp: July 11-15 8:00 am -12:00 pm for girls entering grade 6.

Second Camp: July 18-22 8:00 am -12:00 pm for girls entering grades 7 & 8.

Camp is held on the TST BOCES campus: 555 Warren Road, Ithaca NY

The camps target girls of color and girls from low income households and will address the following:

  • The disparity in gender equity with regard to Computer Science, technology, and digital design.
  • Encourage girls to think of themselves as designers, rather than merely users, of software and games.
  • Level the playing field for girls and provide opportunities for them to thrive in a learning environment that is tailored to their needs and interests.

The camps will also work to address how technology can help women in finding a career path and why girls should consider a career in technology. The camp will also identify resources for girls to extend their knowledge of tech study and careers post camp.
